Combined Art-is-You Mixed Media Retreat and Holiday

Day 3 of Art-is-You Marquis de Scroll with Andrea de Meng
I loved this class, absolutely loved it… If you have watched my art journal flip throughs (hint: this is my you tube channel) you may have realised that faces are not one of my interests and hence I don’t do them very well. I am more into birds, very into birds in fact and am naturally drawn to landscapes when I art journal.

I went to this class with the intention of being out of my comfort zone, for me this is a way to do something I am not brave enough to do in my studio.  So there I was standing at my table trying to think about faces, cos hey that’s what the others were doing, (I might be wrong but I am pretty sure every other artist at that workshop collaged faces)…..Anyway, Andrea came to talk through my ideas, and the outcome was she gave me permission not to use faces. This was ground breaking, immediately I went from being totally at sea, to sort of comfortable, a tree made up of steam punk cogs, wheels and blades, is still pretty out there for me.

I loved her teaching manner, her tips and techniques have opened new doors for me. I would definitely do another of her classes, given the chance.

My scroll is definitely not finished, and indeed I haven’t touched it since I got home, I have actually been working on the next class I did (Seth Apter’s 52 card pick-up but that is for another post.) So bearing in mind this is a long way from finished, here are some photos of my scroll for you. (By the way it is 5 feet (1.5 metres) x 12 inches (30cm)).
